Event Overview

The Joint Steering Group Meeting brought together Priority Area 4 (Water Quality) and Priority Area 7 (Knowledge Society) of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR). The meeting focused on technical coordination, policy updates from the European Commission, and the strategic planning of activities for 2026.

My Contribution

As a member of the Danube Youth Council (DYC), I was invited as a speaker in the joint session on May 5th. My presentation, titled “DYC members – expectations & cooperation”, focused on:

  • Bridging the gap between regional policy-making and the younger generation of researchers and professionals.
  • Identifying concrete opportunities for cooperation between DYC and Priority Areas 4 and 7.
  • Enhancing youth participation in flagship processes and regional projects.

Agenda Highlights

Day 1: Joint PA4-PA7 Session

  • European Commission Update: DG Regio insights on the Danube Strategy.
  • PA 4 & PA 7 Activities: Strategic plans for 2026 regarding water digitalisation and knowledge society evaluation.
  • Stakeholder Discussion: Reflection on cross-sectoral cooperation.

Day 2: Strategic Information Exchange

  • Updates from international organizations including ICPDR, GWP, CEE, and the Danube Sturgeon Task Force.

Cătălin Creciunel is a graduate of the Technical University of Moldova, specializing in microelectronics and nanotechnology. With over 5 years of experience as a Research Scientist, he has developed innovative solutions for semiconductor materials including ZnO, GaP, and InP through thermal treatment and anodization techniques. His expertise spans embedded software development in Python and C/C++, hardware design using CAD tools, and nanotechnology research including semiconductor and composite nanofiber production.
